What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is “constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement.”

Functional movements are multi-joint, natural, effective, and efficient locomotors of body & external objects.

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program with the aim to optimize physical competence in each of the 10 Fitness Domains:

  1. Cardiovascular/respiratory endurance
  2. Stamina
  3. Strength
  4. Flexibility
  5. Power
  6. Speed
  7. Coordination
  8. Agility
  9. Balance
  10. Accuracy

Is this for me?

Absolutely!  Everyone from the world’s best athletes to our grandparents can benefit from increased power, speed, strength, cardiovascular and respiratory endurance, flexibility, stamina, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.  Of course, the weight that your grandmother would use for squatting would differ from the weight that an Olympic Skier would use but they both need to squat.  Squatting is just one example of a movement that is universally valuable and essential to maintaining functional independence and improving fitness.

Getting started with CrossFit Foundations

Teaching you proper technique is our number one priority so we have designed our Foundations classes to do just that.  These classes are for the absolute beginner & newcomer to fitness as well as for those that have been away from fitness for some time and just need to ease back slowly and safely.

Our Foundations classes include a warm up, helpful instruction & skills practice followed by a WOD (workout of the day) and ending with a cool down stretch.  These classes are designed to prepare you for our regular CrossFit classes so you must complete Foundations 1, 2 & 3 (in any order) before attending a CrossFit class.
